The School of Music offers a range of activities including, performance, musicology,
composition, music psychology, ethnomusicology and music education. The School is
also the home of the Callaway Centre which is a hub for international research and
enjoys a growing collaboration with many national and international organisations.
The Centre fosters research partnerships with other Australian and international
institutions, visiting scholars and practitioners.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for an ethnomusicologist to assume the
overall task of coordination and leadership in the University music
ethnomusicological program. The appointee will take a prominent role in the conduct
of research/creative work and postgraduate supervision within the School. Applicants
must have a PhD in ethnomusicology or a closely related area. Applicants with
teaching experience are requested to submit a teaching portfolio as part of their
application. Specialist research interests are sought in Indonesian children’s music
and a background in gamelan performance. An ability to contribute to the School’s
other academic programs would be an advantage.
