Just returned from my guest lecture on Peking opera percussion music at Boston College. It's invited by Prof. Fugan Dineen (who is also my former colleague at Wesleyan University) for his Asian Music class. Thanks, Fugan!
It's a very dynamic class: students were actively engaged and open to new perspectives. They picked up key concepts quickly and asked great questions in the end of the lecture. Very brilliant. I am glad that all students seemed to be enjoying the session and got very excited especially when playing the instruments. It's a great experience for me and hope this class could engender more interests in Peking opera music and Asian music cultures in general.
